Today through August 22, supplies purchased by Dollar Tree customers at more than 7,400 participating Dollar Tree stores nationwide will be donated to Operation Homefront. The school supplies will be collected by Operation Homefront volunteers and distributed to military families at more than 120 Back-to-School Brigade® events and through local community partners across the nation this summer.

“Operation Homefront’s support for military families is such an important service to those who make sacrifices for our country,” said Chelle Davis, Dollar Tree spokesperson. “We are proud to continue our support and appreciate that our customers share that generosity.”

This year, Operation Homefront will provide its 400,000th backpack with school supplies to a military child, saving military families more than $50 million in back-to-school expenses since the program launched in 2008.

This year’s Back-to-School Brigade® events will have a different look relative to past programs to adhere with federal, state, and local COVID-19 guidelines. Most of the events will be delivered in a drive-through format, with volunteers following CDC guidelines.

“I am extremely proud of our amazing 12-year partnership with the Dollar Tree family and their caring customers as they help us support our military families by ensuring their kids are prepared to start a new school year in the Fall,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “With their help, we are able to make life better for those who have done -- and continue to do -- so much for all of us.”

Dollar Tree is a longtime supporter of our nation’s military families. Since the partnership began in 2006, Dollar Tree and its generous customers have provided millions of dollars and in-kind support to recurring programs. Moreover, Dollar Tree has supported Operation Homefront’s Critical Financial Assistance program for military families in need.
