Guiding Our Community Impact

Dollar Tree collaborates with nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and Canada to enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve. These guidelines outline our priorities for selecting partnerships and identifying where we can have the greatest impact.

Community Impact Program

At Dollar Tree, we aim to make a positive and lasting impact in the communities we serve. We do this by offering access to affordable products, supporting economic well-being, and enhancing the safety and livability of our neighborhoods. Our dedication to inclusivity and resilience is reflected in our community efforts, which are made possible through strong nonprofit partnerships, our community grant program, associate engagement, and other social impact initiatives. Together, we continuously work to strengthen the communities we serve.

Our Focus Areas

Our Community Impact Program takes a holistic approach to channel our resources in support of thriving families and stronger communities. To fulfill our mission, we focus on three key areas that address a range of community priorities:

  1. Essential Needs – We improve access by investing in initiatives that address food and other vital needs insecurity, support family stability, and provide comprehensive support services.
  2. Economic Opportunity – We support economic well-being by investing in financial health, youth development, and job skills training, helping individuals and families achieve stability and thrive.
  3. Community Vitality – We enhance community livability by investing in initiatives that promote stability, safety, social connections, and long-term resilience.

Program Guidelines

Dollar Tree is proud to serve thousands of communities across the U.S. and Canada. We focus on providing affordable essential products, investing in economic opportunities, and supporting community safety and vitality. We amplify our impact through national nonprofit partnerships, community grants, gift card donations, and disaster response initiatives — working together to uplift the communities we serve.

Signature Partnerships

We are dedicated to strengthening partnerships with nonprofit organizations to support our key areas and deliver vital services at scale. We work with partners whose missions align with our objectives and who help create meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
Please note: Partnerships are by invitation only.

Community Grants Program

We support local and national nonprofits that align with our focus areas in the communities where our stores and distribution centers are located. Our grant program is by invitation only, with funding decisions based on geographic priorities and needs. We do not accept unsolicited proposals.

Gift Card Program

We offer gift cards to approved nonprofit organizations to help increase access to food and other essential products, addressing critical needs in the communities we serve. Qualified nonprofits are invited to apply for a Dollar Tree gift card grant through our partnership with Gift Card Bank.

Disaster Response

We foster community resilience by partnering with disaster response organizations to deliver timely resources to communities in need. Through product donations, we are uniquely positioned to support both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. We independently assess and respond to disaster-related needs. Qualified nonprofit organizations can request disaster response product donations through our partnership with Gift Card Bank.

Community Grants Program Eligibility

When reviewing requests for support, we prioritize organizations that are committed to advancing at least one of our three focus areas: Essential Needs, Economic Opportunity, and Community Vitality. We seek to partner with reputable, inclusive organizations whose activities align with our values, comply with legal requirements, and adhere to applicable terms and conditions.

To be considered for selection, organizations must fall into one of the following categories:

  • A tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, listed on the IRS Master File and operating within the United States and/or a registered charity holding a current charitable registration number with the Canada Revenue Agency
  • A state or local government entity, agency, or department using the donation for a public purpose
  • A public or nonprofit-private educational institution, including K–12 schools, charter schools, community or junior colleges, and state or private colleges and universities
  • A faith-based organization using the donation to support the broader community through programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, or clothing closets

We are committed to fostering communities where everyone feels valued, welcomed, and respected. As a part of this commitment, we do not support organizations that discriminate against any legally protected classes.
